Connect a Telegram bot
Use a Telegram bot as a receive source for channels where you can add it. Bot setup verifies access and message reception before you enable a channel.
Before you start
Have a bot token from BotFather and permission to add the bot to the intended channel. You also need Telegram and channel management permissions in TTMT. If you want to execute signals, prepare the receiving MT accounts and their Trading Profiles first.
Treat the token as a password. Paste it only into Bot token; never include it in a support message or screenshot.
Complete bot setup
- Open Telegram and choose Add bot in Telegram Bots.
- In Connect bot, paste the Bot token and choose Verify bot. You can open BotFather from the form to create or select your bot.
- In Choose channels, add the bot to the intended Telegram channels with the required access, then choose Refresh channel list.
- If needed, use Enter channel manually with its username or Telegram chat identifier and choose Verify channel.
- Select the accessible channels and choose Continue.
- In Link MT accounts, select the receiving accounts for each channel. Check their profile and readiness. Reload MT readiness refreshes these checks.
- Choose Check reception. In Check and finish, choose Generate check code for each selected channel, post the generated code in that channel and wait for verification. Use Reload check status to refresh.
- Choose Enable reception when all selected channels are verified and all selected MT accounts are ready. Choose Save for later if setup is incomplete.
Only new posts after activation are processed. An accessible channel is not the same as a verified reception check.
Confirm the receive source
Open the channel's Setup tab and check Current receive source. Each channel uses one source at a time. To move an existing channel from its personal account connection to a bot, use Choose a receive source → Switch receive source and confirm the saved result.
An MT account's Trading Profile applies to every channel routed to that account. Bot setup does not create a separate profile for each channel.
Manage your bot
Use Manage bot for Check connection, Replace token, Disconnect or Remove from workspace. Disconnecting stops affected channels from receiving through that bot while keeping their MT configuration and history. Removing also removes its stored token and notification destinations from the workspace; you can add the bot again using its token.
Notification destinations are configured separately. Choosing where to send notifications does not select which channels provide trading signals.
| Problem | Action |
|---|---|
| Bot cannot access a channel | Check that it was added to the correct channel with the required access, then refresh or verify again. |
| Channel absent from list | Refresh the list or use Enter channel manually. |
| Check remains pending | Post the generated code in the correct channel and choose Reload check status. Generate a new check if the current one expires. |
| Enable reception unavailable | Verify every selected channel and ensure every selected MT account is ready. Use Save for later while resolving blockers. |
| Connection check fails after token change | Verify the token in BotFather and use Replace token, then check connection and channel reception again. |
| Some saves failed or remain unconfirmed | Review each channel result and use Retry original save when offered. Do not assume all channels were enabled. |
